I’ve started this blog to record and reflect upon the early life of my new border collie puppy “Tai”, born Jan 1, 2010. Where this will take me is hard to say…animal behavior, the science of dog training, the nature of border collies, joy, observation, expectations, acceptance are all possible topics. For readers – few though you may be – if you have raised a puppy these musings may bring back memories and if you are raising a puppy right now you may find shared experiences.
A little about me: I live in upstate NY and have a professional background in biology, ecology and environmental management. I am recently retired from 20+ career in a major corporation. I’ve been married for much longer than that to a very patient man and have two lovely grown kids who will probably not read this blog
. My shelties – 10 yr old Lacey and 6 yr old Breeze are very accomplished in dog agility and they will definitely not read this blog
. I love dog training and the sport of dog agility because both sides of the coin give me much to “noodle over” and because it has brought me so many good friends. My approach to dog training and handling has been highly influenced by Susan Garrett, Greg Derrett and Susan Salo. Thanks to all.
